We've had such a wonderful Christmas Break, I can't believe it has to end. We decided this year to stay home for the whole break and not go to Utah or Southern California. Although we missed seeing family, we had such a nice time just being together and exploring this great area we live in.
Our Christmas always begins with our traditional 'Mary & Joseph' hike. We found a new great hiking area just outside of San Jose - truly breathtaking.
A few days after Christmas, Dallin decided to fall off a high ledge in our house and injure his foot. We're still working on the specifics of his injury but the cat-scan shows a fracture in the growth plate of his ankle. I should have a picture of him on his crutches here- but I haven't taken one yet. This incident changed many of our plans for the break - including everything that took much walking. Needless to say, we spent some serious time at the movie theater.
Bryant's birthday is two days after Christmas. We had planned to go to the zoo but went with Plan B - Chuck-E-Cheese. I don't think Bryant had ever experienced this before - he had a great time (the older kids endured it).
Our three year old boy! Craig kept reminding me that we will never have a two year old in our family again (sounds good to me!).
We really love Northern California! Within an hours drive, we can hike in a dense, lush, pine tree filled forest, visit an amazing, historical, fun, arts filled city, or go to the beach.
Some friends took us to this beautiful beach in San Francisco. We had breakfast at this quaint little restaurant with a great view of the water. After, we hiked down and the kids had fun climbing on these old ruins of a gigantic pool that used to be located here, right on the beach.
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed just watching the waves come crashing in on the rocks. There is something about the ocean that is so captivating and beautiful. A great way to end our Christmas break.
This is an amazing group of girls and I'm so grateful that Ashlyn has all these wonderful friends.
