Nothing too significant happened this weekend but since I seemed to have taken alot of pictures, thought I'd document a typical weekend for us here - much the same as your weekends probably.

Alexa has gymnastics on Friday afternoons. She LOVES gymnastics and looks forward to this time each Friday. The Singapore American School has a fully equipped gymnastics gym - very convenient.

Friday night we had a friend from CA, Kevin Ganshaw, who was here for business, over for dinner - as well as the missionaries. It was fun to visit with Kevin (and thanks to him for bringing us packages from the states) and the kids love having the missionaries over.

Saturday morning the kids had their last soccer games - all three beginning at 8:30 am. I love it when all their games are at the same time - I can rotate between them and we don't have to spend the whole day at the fields. However, kind of a bummer for Craig who helped coach Breann's team so he doesn't get to see the other kids play.

The end of soccer is always a little bitter sweet. We love soccer and enjoy watching the kids play but it is nice to get your Saturday's back. However, now we're on to basketball for Breann and Ashlyn (who made the middle school team).

Since all three games were early we had some time to go somewhere as a family. We headed to this new, fun park I had heard about that was not too far from our home. The kids had fun climbing on the ropes that where like enormous spider webs. However, it was pretty hot so we didn't stay too long.

The park was right on the water that separates Singapore from Malaysia (Johor Straits). Ashlyn is standing on the pier and you can see how close Malaysia is behind her. Many people go back and forth between Singapore and Malaysia daily for work (they work in Singapore where they can make more money and then live in Malaysia where it's cheaper) or for shopping.

There were people fishing on the pier and the kids had fun touching and playing with the fish.

Saturday night we had a ward activity - the Prom. Our Singapore ward is known for the amazing, elaborate ward parties that are put on. Last month we had a family Australian BBQ - complete with BBQ kangaroo and Australian Rugby. This month is was the Prom. My sister had warned me that this was coming so I actually brought my old prom dresses with me to Singapore. Ashlyn had fun with the role reversal and helped me get ready for the dance. She looked thru my High School photo album and was consulting me on how to best do my hair - going for the 90's flip (unfortunately I don't have the wave iron to get the perm look).

This was Craig and my 3rd Prom together! We have people in our ward from lots of countries so for many this was a new thing. They had old prom pictures out to play a little 'guess who' and they had a DJ with all kinds of music from the 80's and 90's. It was fun to just go and see how everyone was dressed. At the conclusion of the evening, Craig commented on how nothing has changed in that he still doesn't like dances. Thanks to him for tolerating (especially since he had to get up at 4 am the next morning to catch a plane to the US)!

I can't believe how grey (or is it gray?) Craig is getting! MAN are we old??? I don't feel like we are!!! Miss you and need to figure out how to call you! I have so much to tell you!
SO fun...you two look fabulous! What a fun ward..do you have parties every month?
Brian and Graig are peas in a pod...it's questionable whether Brian would have even gone to the party if dancing was involved!
I am impressed that you can still fit into your prom dress. How fun! You two look wonderful.
