Bangkok

For some reason I'm having problems accessing my blog on my computer - electronics drive me batty sometimes!  Luckily I've discovered that I''m able to update using Ashlyn's computer - we'll see how long this lasts.
A few weeks ago, Craig and I took an anniversary trip to Bangkok, Thailand.  It was a quick trip but a nice little getaway.  We stayed at the beautiful Peninsula Hotel right on the river - the views were spectacular.

Our first day we headed out on a bike tour around the city.  We were able to see where the people lived and what life is like for many of the people there.  We had a wonderful guide who taught us alot about life in Bangkok.
We crossed the river and rode thru the jungle - a tropical wonder.  It was quite hot but, as long as we were riding, the breeze kept us cooler.

We visited the famous temples and palace of the Siam empire.  The ornate decor was truly amazing.

One evening we had dinner right across the water from this temple (Wat Arun) - it was so cool to watch the sun set over the water and the temple.
Bangkok is famous for it's street food - fried bugs anyone?
The Grand Palace was inspiring.  The combination of European and Thai architecture was so neat.  As soon as we got back I had to rent The King and I (or Anna and the King) to recall some of the events that happened at this famous place.
It was a quick trip - only 2 days - but fun to be together and explore.  We did sightseeing, shopping, eating, and got a massage - all the things Bangkok is so famous for.  Craig would have liked cooler temperatures - he said he's done with heat and temples for a while :).
