The week of Alexa

This past week was a very special one for Alexa.  It started with her birthday on Tuesday, September 4.  A normal busy school day for most of the family - once Ashlyn got home from soccer, Dallin from football, Breann from Rugby, and Alexa from gymnastics - we managed to squeeze in a family dinner and little party.  Alexa's dinner choice:  Enchaladas, beans, and Ceasar Salad (weird combination, I know), with chocolate cake for dessert.

We even managed to have some time to open presents.  Alexa was very anxious for this part of the evening.
In our family we have choosen certain ages that we feel are 'significant' and worthy of a birthday party with friends.  Alexa turned the important age of 8 so she got to have a party this year.  Friday night she invited 9 girl friends over for a movie party.  We played all kinds of movie trivia games and then watched a movie - complete with a snack bar.  Everything went great - except for the pizza that took 2 1/2 hours to arrive.  Good thing for back up mac & cheese!
Saturday afternoon Alexa had a very special day as she was baptized a member of the church and received the Holy Ghost.  It was a special meeting at the church, attended by some family (Gordhamer's) and friends from our ward.  There were two talks given by her brother Dallin and her uncle Joseph.  Ashlyn played the piano and her cousin Abigail played the cello. We're proud of Alexa for making the decision to be baptized.  It was a memerable event for us all.

We're blessed to have Alexa in our family.  The week was a bit crazy but glad we could spend the time helping Alexa understand how truly wonderful and special she is.
