Canning

I remember when Sarah and I used to can in AZ we talked about how much we liked to just look at all the filled jars on the counter or in the pantry.  So, here are some that I looked at for a while and then decided to take a picture to share.  One of the things I love about this house we are in is all the mature fruit trees.  This summer I made plum jam, applesauce, and bottled pears -  all from fruit in the backyard.  My dream home would have a whole orchard of trees and a big, beautiful vegetable garden.  I would love to just live off my land as much as I could.  I get great satisfaction from canning.  Anyway, this is one thing I've been doing while the kids are in school.

I only can once or twice a year.... when the peaches come in from Utah and when there are good deals on strawberries at the fruit market!!!

But I sure love all those jars when I am done!!

I'm jealous. I've been enjoying all the produce from the weekly farmer's market here, but it's just not the same as picking it from your backyard.

I wish my pears were free! I just bought two boxes at Sprouts tho for .39 / ls. I only ended up canning 1 box tho. I got 14 jars out of it and pooped out! Let's just say the kids have been having pears for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Your pears look pretty.

OK, I am coming to live with you for a while so that you can teach me how to can, how to make fabulous cards, and how to do the other amazing things that you do! Loved the picture! We miss you guys!

Cami, you're seriously my idol. The thing I love about it too is that you are truly genuine about it- I know you and I know it really would be a dream for you to live on an orchard and live off the land. You are the real deal. I want your picture of pears for my blog header, it looks beautiful!

There is something so beautifully simple about those jars filled with good wholesome fruit. I am not a canner, but for the first time in my life, I'm actually starting to want to be one.

Hi Cami, it is so wonderful to have fruit trees. I am jealous. Citrus is wonderful but you can't really can it. I can't believe how much your children have grown up. Amazing. Can you do me a favor and send me you and your sibling's email or physical addresses? Lindsey is getting married! elise.lundeen@gmail.com

You are an inspiration! That is a beautiful picture. I want to learn how to can. I think I would be more motiviated if I had fresh fruit growing in my back yard. Awesome! Your kids are getting so big. They look great! We miss you.
