This past Saturday was the first day of the kids winter break and therefore no sports games - a whole day with no plans. We headed to Sentosa - a tiny island off the cost of Singapore. Singapore is not known for it's beaches - most people here go to Thailand, Malaysia, or Indonesian Islands when they want a good beach. However, if you do go to the beach in Singapore, you go to Sentosa. The government here had the island developed to be the 'resort', beachy, touristy, part of Singapore. The whole island feels like an amusement park. There are many different activities to do on the island, we choose to try the Luge.

We took a 'ski lift' up the hill to luge down. The view from the top was awesome. This is as close as we'll get to any skiing this winter!

The kids had fun riding the 'sleds' down the hill.

Apparently, the tip of the island is the southern most tip of Asia.

They brought in sand from Indonesia to line the beaches so the sand is super soft and nice. The kids had fun playing in the sand and water.

On our way home we stopped off downtown to see the Christmas lights. Downtown Singapore is much like downtown New York City. The lights are pretty incredible - hard to capture in pictures. Each block is all lit up a different color and the malls compete for best decorations.

It was very crowded and we didn't stay long but it was fun to see the decorations and feel the Christmas spirit. There was also lots of live music up and down the streets and even Santa Claus. A fun end to a fun day. We missed Ashlyn though who was home not feeling well.
