Sunday we were able to attend church in the Siem Reap Branch in Cambodia. This was a neat experience and definitely a highlight of the trip. The church has only been in Siem Reap for about 4 years so most the members are fairly new members of the church. It was neat to get to interact with the members, and the missionaries, and see the church at work in this country.
Ashlyn was not happy when we told her she would be attending all three hours (a little hard with the language barrier) but afterward she said she was so grateful she went. It was neat for her to get to know a few young women.

On Sunday afternoon we were able to visit a few of the members homes with the Branch President. The day before we had purchased some rice and fish to deliver to some needy families in the branch. What a great experience for our children to go into these homes and meet these humble members of the church. This is a very typical home in Siem Reap - no water, electricity or plumbing. One room shack with one bicycle as the families mode of transportation.
Sweet, sweet, humble people. It was hard to leave - wanting to do so much more.
Getting to know the people in Cambodia made this trip unique and special. Our driver for most of our time there was the Branch President, Brother Loy. What a incredible, humble person and what a blessing for us to know him and spend time with him. Learning his story of survival thru many horrific years of war and terror in Cambodia is moving. His service and dedication to the church and it's members in Cambodia is inspirational. There are people we met in Cambodia that I will forever remember and hope to see again someday.
