Off to Thailand

Over the Christmas break we embarked on an adventure in Thailand for a week. We dragged Craig's parents along with us. It all started in Phuket. We'd been there before so we didn't spend too much time here - just a kick-off place for the rest of our journey. The trip started a bit rough as we were moved hotels upon arrival - kind of a pain - and wound up in a different area than planned. The only good thing was the amazing firework show we saw from our hotel rooms New Year's Eve - 360 degree's of firework shows with glowing lanterns being let off all around (like in Tangled). I don't think any of us will ever forget what we saw.

We arrived in Thailand Saturday evening - New Year's Eve. On Monday morning we took off for Phi Phi island. Our journey consisted of a 2 hour ferry ride and then a 10 minute longtail boat ride to our hotel.

Our hotel on the island consisted of these fun bungelos on the beach. We couldn't have picked a better location or setting - loved our hotel.
Most our meals were taken right here on the beach - a beautiful setting, especially at sunset. The food was also very good.
(Dallin took this picture - he's making me put that).
Our first full day there we decided to tour the surrounding islands and do some exploring and snorkeling. A speedboat and guide were secured and we were off on a memorable adventure.
Our first stop - Monkey Beach. Our guide/boat driver threw out a banana and down dropped a monkey right on the front of our boat. We watched that monkey peel and eat the banana - the kids were fascinated but a bit frightened (although they are around monkeys all the time in Singapore).

We explored some of the most beautiful places we have ever seen, occasionally getting out for a swim or some snorkeling.
The kids loved to feed the fish bread so they would swarm around them - we'll, some of the kids (others screamed when the fish touched them). Bryant loved to just be surrounded by them. We saw so many cool fish!

The kids thought it was so cool when dad let them have Coke because that's all the driver brought. Definitely added to the coolness of the day. We stopped at Maya Beach where the movie "The Beach" was filmed (never seen the movie - guess I'll have to check it out sometime). Very picturesque!

We went for a little hike just off the beach that ended at a lookout thru to the other side of this little island - breathtaking again!

After or exploring, we had fun swimming and snorkeling on the beach right in front of our hotel. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and being with grandma and grandpa.

Phi Phi Island is officially one of my favorite places on earth! It's one of those places you see pictures of and think it can't really look like that - but it does. We spent two days here before heading to our next destination - Railay Beach, Krabi.
