Grandpa & Grandma visit

Grandpa and Grandma Bruschke went home yesterday after spending two wonderful weeks with us on this side of the world. It was so fun to have them come all this way and see where we live and what life if like for us here. The kids loved having them here and we all enjoyed spending lots of time with them. They arrived on Bryant's 5th birthday - Dec. 28th. So, our first day with them was all about Bryant - we went to Build a Bear and to see the new Chipmunk movie. Dinner was at our favorite Chinese restaurant for some tasty Dim Sum. What a treat to have grandma and grandpa there for the birthday celebration.

We decided the best way for grandpa and grandma to see Singapore would be a hop on, hop off tour bus around the downtown. This way they could see Little India, Chinatown, Arab Street, and all the downtown without having to walk too much. We got off a few times to do some deeper exploration.

Lunch at our favorite Indian food restaurant - Banana Leaf.
Great views of the old and the new of Singapore.
We finished our bus tour right in the heart of the city - along Orchard Road - just as the Christmas lights came on. A perfect end to a great day.
The next day we headed down to the east coast for some bike riding along the beach and our favorite hamburgers for lunch - Carl's Jr.
Grandpa and Grandma were in Singapore for 3 days before we headed to Thailand for a week. When we got back from our wonderful vacation, we still had a few days with them in Singapore. The kids went back to school Monday so we got to show grandma and grandpa where the kids spend most of their time here - at SAS (Singapore American School). Grandma and grandpa really enjoyed exploring the campus.
Our last night we headed back downtown for a ride on the famous Singapore flyer for some great views of the island. We then went to the Marina Bay Sands hotel for some more great views and a little chocolate.

The infinity pool all along the top (57th floor) is incredible - I'm thinking I need to stay here one night and go for a swim!
We enjoyed the chocolate buffet at the hotel - 57 different kinds of chocolate (since it's on the 57th floor). So good! However, I think we were all a bit sick after. A great way to end our two wonderful weeks with Bruce and Karen - so glad they made it over for a visit!
